About VOC Assessments

Verification of Competency (VOC) is a process that evaluates an individual’s skills, knowledge, and abilities in a particular job or occupation. It is often required by employers or industry bodies to ensure that workers have the necessary competencies to perform their job safely and effectively.

Western Training can provide onsite Verification of Competency where the appropriate equipment and environment are provided by the employer. Individual or group options are available, and are subject to possible discounted rates. VOC’s are a quick easy way for an employer to verify a candidate’s skills, knowledge and experience on the required machinery/ticket before commencing work on-site. For a VOC to be conducted, the candidate must hold a valid and current ticket/statement of attainment in the unit of competency they are being VOC’d on.

No current ticket? in this case, the candidate must enrol into and complete the required ticket/statement of attainment prior to the VOC being conducted.

Both a theory and practical assessment must be carried out successfully by the candidate for them to be deemed competent. Candidates who achieve competency will receive an interim VOC slip on the day and be issued a VOC certificate once the account has been settled with Western Training.
