Course Overview

Demonstrate First Attack Firefighting Equipment is part of our General Courses training delivery we provide as an individual unit. This course is for those who are required to have a basic understanding and the skills to be able to extinguish a fire in an emergency.

This unit of competency specifies the skills and knowledge required to demonstrate first attack firefighting equipment. It includes demonstrating and explaining to clients how to correctly and safely use portable fire extinguishers, fire hose reels and fire blankets in emergency situations. The unit is suitable for those with basic skills and knowledge undertaking routine work tasks under the direction of more experienced workers.

 

This unit covers:

  • Demonstrate and explain correct use of portable fire extinguisher to extinguish simulated fire.
  • Demonstrate and explain correct use of fire hose reel.
  • Demonstrate and explain use of fire blanket.

 

Western Training provides training for individuals of all skill levels. Our training is conducted at a specialised facility designed to simulate a live work site to ensure a seamless transition from a training environment to an active work site.

Delivery

The unit consists of a theoretical and practical assessment witnessed by a qualified assessor.

Requirements

  • Must have good verbal and written comprehension of the English language
  • Must have good general health and fitness for practicals
  • Must wear long sleeved shirt, long leg pants and steel cap boots
  • Must hold a USI (unique student identifier) number.

Language, Literacy and Numeracy

Training may be adjusted for participants with language, literacy and numeracy issues to ensure no candidate is at a disadvantage in completing this course. Please inform our office at the time of booking your course if you experience any language, literacy or numeracy issues.
